So often when trying something new, we need to know what to expect. Here are the most Frequently Asked Questions I get across social media.
How do I rig my hammock at home?
The easiest option is to purchase an indoor and outdoor rig here. If you would like to hang your hammock from the ceiling, you will need to consult with a professional rigger or contractor. They will need to rig something safely from your beams. *I am not liable, nor responsible for rigging your equipment.
What do I need to know about caring for my aerial yoga hammock?
The aerial fabric can fade in the sunlight, so keep it in a dark place when you are not using it. Don’t wear any jewelry, velcro or other materials that could snag the fabric. When it’s time to wash your hammock, set the cycle to delicate and cool. Once it is washed, you will be able to pull the knots out of the fabric. Put it in the dryer on the lowest setting to avoid heat damage. Click here for a YouTube video that explains everything.
Can I do Aerial Yoga Goddess Training if I am not an instructor?
This is not your typical Yoga Teacher Training, this is a lifestyle, business and social media training. This does not certify you to be a yoga teacher. I am not affiliated with the yoga alliance. This is not for someone who wants to become an instructor, but rather someone who wants to take their business to the next level. This is also great for someone who is an entrepreneur that wants to start dabbling in the aerial yoga world as a way to heal.
How much weight can the hammock hold?
Our fabric holds up to 2,000 lbs. and caribiners hold up to 5,620 lbs. each. Although, your equipment is only as strong as your weakest link. **PLEASE DO NOT HANG FROM TREES, you NEVER know when the tree will break. A snag in your fabric is also a safety hazard. My hammocks are not meant to do drops, they are used for yoga. *I am not liable, nor responsible for anything you do in your hammock. Always consult with a professional teacher when trying something new.
What should I wear?
Wear something you feel comfortable in. Yoga pants or capris with a tank top or work out shirt. Please nothing with velcro or buttons to snag the fabric. Please trim and file your nails to prevent ripping the fabric. Taking a shower is recommended before class to keep the hammocks fresher longer.
Should I eat before class?
Try to eat clean the day of an aerial yoga class. Drink a lot of water before and after. You are getting a deep tissue massage, chiropractic session and a yoga class in one so we recommend keeping away from toxins 24 hours prior. We like to eat cinnamon apple oats with walnuts for breakfast, a big green, colorful salad for lunch and a banana with peanut butter an hour before class! Skip the coffee and enjoy a tea instead!
What if I get motion sickness?
If you get motion sickness or sea sick, aerial yoga may not be for you. If you still really want to try it, take your medicine as directed by your physician.
Is there anyone you recommend to NOT do aerial yoga?
Some issues can prevent someone from doing aerial yoga, like glaucoma, epilepsy, high or low blood pressure, pregnancy, heart disease, recent surgery, osteoporosis, arthritis, stroke, recent concussion, artificial hips and a cold. Some recommend skipping inversion while menstruating, but there is much controversy on the topic. Always consult with your physician before trying any new physical exercise routine.
